One sentence — about 25 words

WY4Privacy is a volunteer campaign of Wyoming residents working to end warrantless dragnet surveillance in Glenrock, Rolling Hills, Converse County and across Wyoming.

Short paragraph — about 60 words

WY4Privacy is a volunteer campaign of Wyoming residents opposed to warrantless dragnet surveillance. Automated license plate readers photograph passing vehicles, identify them, and record where they were and when — and in Wyoming no warrant is required to search those records. WY4Privacy organizes neighbors to ask their town councils, their county commissioners and the Legislature to change that.

Full paragraph — about 100 words

WY4Privacy is a volunteer campaign of Wyoming residents opposed to warrantless dragnet surveillance. It began in Glenrock, where the town has a contract with Flock Safety for automated license plate readers. These systems photograph every passing vehicle, identify it, and record where it was and when; in Wyoming, no statute requires a warrant before a government agency searches what they collect. The contracts signed allow these companies to give this data to any law enforcement or politician if they deem the request reasonable. They hold the data for as long as they want on their end. WY4Privacy asks local governments to end those contracts, and asks the Legislature — and, if necessary, Wyoming voters — to require a warrant. The campaign is run by volunteers, publishes its sources, and gives no legal advice.
